COLD BE GONE {the natural way}.

1.HYDRATE. HYDRATE. HYDRATE.

Staying hydrated is important with a cold or no cold. However when we are sick we lose a lot more fluids. {blowing your nose, sweating, you get the pic} Try + get plenty of fluids + savour the warmth of some hot homemade brews.

Hot water with ginger, chamomile + lemon. Ginger has high anti-inflammatory properties + is soothing. Chamomile is relaxing + calming.

Golden mylk. Cashew mylk, turmeric, maple syrup or honey. Turmeric is a natural anti-septic, painkiller + anti-oxidant. Full recipe click here.

Apple Cider Vinegar. It tastes nasty, really nasty but the benefits out weigh it all. It boosts your immune system + alkalises your body. Add it to water, hot water, or mix with lemon juice + cayenne pepper.

Oil of Oregano. It kills the bad bacteria + is antiviral but use sparingly. One drop goes a long way + it also kills the good bacteria. Add a drop or two to water + drink or put on the soles of your feet.

Elderberry. Add some elderberry syrup to warm water to make an elderberry tea. Or drink the syrup straight up.

2. RELAX.

Give yourself permission to just be. Drop all the to-do's, lay on the sofa, watch a movie, curl up with a good book.

Take a bath with epsom salts + essential oils. Epsom salts detoxify the body, rid it of any toxins, relieves muscle tension + pain + soothes a tired sore body. My favourite essential oils in the bath are lavender, peppermint, + easy air {a natural vicks blend to open the airways}.

3. EAT HEALTH.

Avoid sugar, it feeds the bad bacteria in the body + prolongs any illness. Alcohol. Same thing.

Eat plenty of garlic, colourful veggies {bell peppers, broccoli}, mushrooms {anti-viral}, sauerkraut + pickles {fermented foods to add back the good bacteria}.

Lots of liquids, soups, broth. Make your favourite take on chicken noodle soup. Vegan? Ditch the chicken + use hearty chickpeas, lentils, quinoa.
