BOOK SHELF.
Books have been a huge part of my spiritual growth. They have contributed to shifting my perspective, opening my mind to new possibilities + making me question my reality.
Here is a list of a few books that have rocked my world + the ones that are on my list to read next.
The Untethered Soul by Michael Singer.
I pretty much recommend this book to all of my clients.
I read it right after 'The Power of Now' + it was a great compliment to the book. The Untethered Soul is beautifully written, feminine + opened my eyes to the relationship I had with my mind, my thoughts. It helped bring awareness to my patterns + helped me to detach from the monkey mind.
Excerpt from the books reviews, 'What would it be like to free yourself from limitations and soar beyond your boundaries? What can you do each day to discover inner peace and serenity?'
Read The Untethered Soul by Michael Singer.
The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle.
This was my first personal growth book that has skyrocketed the past four years of growth + it definitely opened a rabbit hole. I am now a personal growth book junkie.
It's much more masculine than 'The Untethered Soul' + guides the reader through a journey of oneness, awareness + being in the present moment. How once we are liberated from our mind, life is sweeter + enlightenment is achievable. When we are living in the future, anxiety sets in. When we are living in the past, depression. The only moment we have is this moment + being here in the now.
Pussy: A Reclamation by Regena Thomashauer.
I know the title makes me cringe a little but the book is amazing. I started reading it again immediately after I finished it the first time. I've never done that before.
It's about our {women} disconnection to our femininity, our sensuality + how/why it has gotten to this point. It's beautifully written + provides assignments to reignite + reconnect ourselves back to the feminine divine that is within each one of us.
The Spontaneous Fulfillment of Desire by Deepak Chopra.
All those coincidences, people you just run into at the perfect time + place, none of those are by mistake. The book hones in on how coincidences are the gateway to fulfilling your every desire. Where you can create your own 'good luck', your own destiny + nothing is by accident. Coincidences are all glimpses of a place where everything happens at the same time, synchronistically.
I read this one while I was traveling through Ireland, England + France, it kept me in the hostels some nights with my nose in the book.
A New Earth by Eckhart Tolle.
A New Earth is the follow up to 'The Power of Now'. The book is about awakening to your life's purpose, transcending the ego, awakening to a new state of consciousness + creating a life of true fulfillment. By each one of us doing this {creating a life of true fulfillment} it leads to a better way of life which leads to a better world - A New Earth, how amazing would that be?
Autobiography of a Yogi.
I have to admit, I haven't read all of this one yet. I have watched the documentary that follows the book, the life of Swami Yogananda + the film is beautiful + available on Netflix. The autobiography {the book + the film} taps into the deepest secrets of life + the universe - opening our hearts and minds to the joy, beauty, and unlimited spiritual potentials that exist in the lives of every human being.
Random fact - This book was given as a gift to all the people who attended Steve Jobs funeral, it was the one book he always had.
Anatomy of The Spirit by Caroline Myss.
This is on my reading next list. Here's a little excerpt from the back of the book.
'Anatomy of the Spirit presents Dr.Myss's breakthrough model of the body's seven centers of spiritual and physical power, in which she synthesizes the ancient wisdom of three spiritual traditions - the Hindu chakras, the Christian sacraments, and the Kabbalah's Tree of Life - to demonstrate the seven stages through which everyone must pass in the search for higher consciousness and spiritual maturity. With this model, Dr.Myss shows how you can develop your own latent powers of intuition as you simultaneously cultivate your personal power and spiritual growth.'
Sounds amazing + was recommended by a dear friend.
Bhagavad Gita.
Surprisingly we didn't have to read this one for my yoga teacher training so it is on the next to read list.
'The Bhagavad Gita is the core text of the Hindu tradition and is universally acknowledged as one of the world's literary and spiritual masterpieces.'
The Big Leap by Gay Hendricks.
I actually need to read this stat as I am taking a Big Leap + taking life to the next level. It might just have to be my next read. Loads of my teachers have recommended this book + it sounds amazing. It's about conquering your fears + taking life to the next level + has tips on breaking down walls to a better life.
Wow, I could go on + on about books that I have loved + new ones that are on the list to read. Just writing about some of the ones I have already read has inspired me to read them again.
What are some of your favourite personal growth books? Any recommendations to add to the list?
